Infection

Infection is the invasion and multiplication of microorganisms within the body, leading to harm and disease. Microorganisms that cause infection can include bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites, and can enter the body through various pathways, such as respiratory, oral, or through skin wounds. Once the microorganisms enter, they can cause a range of symptoms, from mild to severe, depending on the pathogen and the individual’s immune response. In severe infections, such as sepsis, the immune response can be overwhelming and cause damage to the body’s organs. Treatment of infection involves identifying the type of microorganism causing the infection and using appropriate medications, such as antibiotics or antivirals, to help fight off the pathogen. Additionally, supportive care, such as rest and hydration, can also aid in recovery.
