Explain Science

Introduction to Biochemistry

Biochemistry is a branch of science that studies the chemical processes that occur within living organisms, such as humans, animals, and plants. It explores the structure, function, and interactions of all the molecules that make up living cells, including proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids.

In biochemistry, scientists look at how different biochemical pathways are regulated, how enzymes work, and how cells communicate with each other. Studying biochemistry helps us understand many biological processes, such as how our bodies store and use energy, how we fight off infections, and how our genes are passed down from generation to generation.
