Have you ever shared your candy with a friend? That’s sort of like what happens in a redox reaction! Instead of candy, we’re talking about electrons. Imagine that you have some shiny, new marbles. You give some of these marbles to your friend, and in return, your friend gives you some of their stickers. Both of you are happy because you got something you wanted. In a redox reaction, some atoms give away electrons, and others take them in return. This exchange makes new compounds, just like you and your friend exchanged marbles and stickers!
