Freshwater Ecology (Rivers, Lakes, and Wetlands)
Rivers, lakes, and wetlands are special places where water is found. These places are home to lots of different plants and animals. Rivers flow and move quickly, while lakes are big bodies of water that don’t move much. Wetlands are like soggy lands, where you can find lots of mud and marshy plants.
In rivers, you might see fish swimming and ducks floating on the water. Lakes have bigger fish and sometimes even swans gliding on the surface. Wetlands are filled with tall grasses and plants like cattails, where frogs and birds live.
All these creatures rely on the water in rivers, lakes, and wetlands to survive. They drink the water, find food in it, and use it as a home. It’s important to take care of these special places and not pollute the water, so the plants and animals can keep living happily.
