Explain Science

Chlorine is a highly reactive element that readily forms compounds with most other elements. It has a wide range of uses in industry, including the production of plastics, solvents, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals. Chlorine is also commonly used as a disinfectant in drinking water and swimming pools, as well as in the production of bleach and other cleaning products. However, exposure to chlorine gas can be harmful and even deadly, causing respiratory problems and damage to the skin and eyes.
