Flerovium
Flerovium is a synthetic element with atomic number 114. It was first synthesized in 1998 by a team of Russian and American scientists. It’s an incredibly heavy element, with a mass of around 290 atomic mass units. Flerovium is classified as a superheavy element, with an atomic number greater than that of any element found in nature.
Flerovium was named after the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, where many superheavy elements were discovered. The production of Flerovium involved bombarding plutonium with calcium, which created a series of unstable isotopes that quickly decayed. Flerovium has no known uses outside of scientific research, due to its instability and short half-life.
