Selenium
Selenium is a nonmetallic chemical element with the symbol Se and atomic number 34. It is rare in the Earth’s crust, but can be found in small amounts in many minerals. Selenium is most commonly used in the electronics industry, but also has important biological functions and is considered an essential micronutrient for many organisms. It has some similar properties to sulfur and can be toxic in some forms, but is also used in some medications and dietary supplements.
