Geology
Geology is a broad field that encompasses the study of everything from rocks and minerals to plate tectonics, volcanoes, and natural hazards like earthquakes and landslides. Geologists use a variety of tools and techniques to study the Earth’s physical structure and its history, including analyzing rock samples, studying geological maps, and using geophysical methods to image the Earth’s interior. By understanding the processes that have shaped the Earth over its 4.5 billion-year history, geologists can help us predict and mitigate natural hazards, find and extract natural resources, and better understand the planet we call home.
