Explain Science

Kuiper Belt

The Kuiper Belt is a region of the solar system beyond the orbit of Neptune that’s home to many small, icy objects such as dwarf planets, planetoids, and comets. It’s one of the most fascinating areas of the solar system for astronomers to study because it’s thought to be the source of many of the short-period comets that visit the inner solar system, and it may also contain important clues about the formation and evolution of the solar system itself.
