The Solar System
The solar system is composed of the sun and all things that orbit around it under its gravitational influence, including planets, asteroids, comets, and other debris. There are eight planets in our solar system, each with its unique characteristics and attributes. In order from the sun, they are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Additionally, there are five dwarf planets recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU): Pluto, Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. The study of our solar system is important as it not only helps us understand the origins of our planet and the universe but also has practical applications like space exploration and satellite technology.
