Pluto
Pluto is a dwarf planet that is located in the Kuiper Belt, a region of our solar system beyond Neptune’s orbit. It was once classified as a planet, but was later reclassified as a ”dwarf planet” due to its small size and unique orbit. Pluto is smaller than any of the eight planets, with a diameter of about 1,400 miles. It has a rocky core and an icy surface that is covered in nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide ices. Pluto also has five known moons, the largest of which is called Charon. Despite being so far away, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto in 2015 and captured detailed images and data about the dwarf planet.
