Immunology and Disease

The immune system is a sophisticated defense mechanism that helps our body recognize and fight against harmful invading agents like viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites. It consists of various cells, organs, and proteins working together in a highly organized manner to promote immune responses. Some of the key immune cells include B cells, T cells, and macrophages. These cells identify and respond to foreign substances and pathogens, and generate specialized proteins called antibodies or cytokines to destroy them. Immunology is a vital field of study, as it helps in the development of vaccines, immunotherapies for various diseases, and understanding the underlying mechanisms of autoimmune disorders.
