Losartan (Cozaar)
Losartan, also known as Cozaar, is a medication that belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It is commonly used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, in both adults and children.
Losartan works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, which allows the blood to flow more easily through the body. This helps to lower blood pressure and improves the efficiency of the heart’s pumping action.
In addition to treating high blood pressure, Losartan may also be prescribed to protect the kidneys in patients with diabetes and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with an enlarged heart.
It is essential to take Losartan exactly as prescribed by a doctor and to follow any lifestyle changes recommended, such as eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise.
