The Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland produces two main hormones, called thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which help regulate metabolism, growth and development, and body temperature. The thyroid gland is controlled by the pituitary gland, which produces thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) to tell the thyroid when to produce more hormones.
