Meteoroid
A meteoroid is a small object in space that ranges in size from a grain of sand to a boulder. These objects are left over from the formation of the solar system and can be made up of rock or metal. When a meteoroid enters Earth’s atmosphere, it is called a meteor and burns up due to friction with the air, creating a bright streak of light in the sky. If any of the object makes it to the ground, it is then called a meteorite.
