Explain Science

The Atmosphere

The atmosphere is a complex system that plays a crucial role in maintaining conditions necessary for supporting life on Earth. It is comprised of several distinct layers, including the troposphere (where we live), stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere, each with their own unique characteristics and functions. The atmosphere serves as a protective shield, absorbing harmful radiation from the sun and blocking out most of the harmful UV rays. Additionally, the atmosphere helps to regulate temperature and weather patterns, facilitating the water cycle and providing vital moisture to plants and animals.
