Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is an essential nutrient that our bodies need in order to function properly. It plays a key role in the production of energy from the food we eat and is important for the health of our skin, eyes, and hair. Vitamin B3 is actually a group of compounds that includes nicotinamide and nicotinic acid.

Our bodies cannot produce vitamin B3 on their own, so we need to get it from the foods we eat. Good sources of vitamin B3 include meat (such as chicken and turkey), fish (like salmon and tuna), nuts (such as peanuts and almonds), and whole grains (like wheat and oats).

Vitamin B3 deficiency can lead to a condition called pellagra, which can cause symptoms like skin rashes, digestive problems, and mental confusion. That’s why it’s important to eat a balanced diet that includes foods rich in vitamin B3.
