Compsognathus
Compsognathus is a small dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, about 150 million years ago. It was one of the smallest known dinosaurs, with a length of around 1 meter (3.3 feet) and a weight of about 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds). Compsognathus had a slender body, long tail, and strong hind legs that allowed it to run quickly.
One interesting feature of Compsognathus is that it had feathers. These feathers were not for flying like in modern birds, but probably helped to keep the dinosaur warm or attract mates. Scientists have found fossilized impressions of feathers on some Compsognathus specimens.
Compsognathus was a carnivorous dinosaur, which means it ate meat. It had sharp teeth and a slender snout that allowed it to catch and eat small animals, like insects, lizards, and perhaps even small mammals. Despite its size, Compsognathus was a skilled predator.
Compsognathus lived in a time when many other dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It shared its environment with dinosaurs like Allosaurus and Stegosaurus. Although Compsognathus is not as famous as some of its larger relatives, it has still captured the imagination of scientists and dinosaur enthusiasts.
