Explain Science

The North Pole

The North Pole is the point on the Earth’s surface where the axis of rotation intersects the surface of the planet. The region is characterized by harsh weather conditions, with temperatures plunging to as low as -50°C (-58°F). The Arctic ice cap covering the North Pole is a crucial part of the Arctic ecosystem, regulating the Earth’s temperature and influencing weather patterns. Human activity in the region, such as oil exploration and shipping, has had a severe impact on the environment and wildlife.
