Ice Giant
Ice Giants are a subclass of giant planets that reside in the outer Solar System beyond the Asteroid Belt. These planets, which include Uranus and Neptune, are much larger than Earth and are primarily composed of ices, such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with rocks. The presence of these ices in the planets’ mantles and cores makes them distinct from Jupiter and Saturn, which are gas giants made mostly of hydrogen and helium. Ice Giants have a thick atmosphere of hydrogen, helium, and methane which gives them a blue-green color. They have faint, narrow rings and many moons, including some that are the largest in our Solar System. Scientists believe that studying these planets can provide insight into the formation and evolution of our Solar System, as well as the processes at work in exoplanetary systems.
